Troy

Last month the Dining Divas traveled to Wolfville.  ‘Troy,’ is a new Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant located at 12 Elm Street (formerly the Mud Creek Grill location).  The décor is beautiful – colourful lamps and mirrors brought over from Turkey.

For a starter, Dawn chose the Falafel, her favourite, which is a chickpea and vegetable fritter.  All of the falafel's she tries are slightly different with this one being crispy on the outside.  For her main, she decided on the Beyti Kebab which is roasted lamb medallions.  It's served with basmati rice and Turkish salad.  The Lamb had a good flavour.  They have an indoor charcoal grill that they roast the Kebabs on.  You can actually watch them cook your food as they have an open kitchen.  Dawn passed on dessert as they didn't have a gluten free option.

Deb ordered the Muska Borek which is feta cheese, parsley and herbs in a phyllo pastry for an appetizer (4 pieces) and they were really good. For the main, she ordered the Hellimi cheese wrap and it was delicious. It's a cheese that doesn't melt when you grill it (Cypriot white goat cheese) and it was in a flat bread wrap with onions and a topping that was so good.  It also came with a Turkish salad.  For dessert, Deb ordered the Baklava and it was made with pistachios, instead of walnuts, and she loved it. She’s not a walnut fan so it made her very happy.  Presently, they only serve the one dessert but the food is generous so you may not need it anyway.  Besides the baklava is so yummy that in Deb’s mind that is all they need.
Deb has been back three times since this visit, and Dawn has been back once so you can’t get better recommendations than return visits.  It is wonderful to have a new choice of food in this area, and food that is done well.  We would definitely recommend this restaurant to our family and friends.
(Presently, they do not have a website but can be reached at 542-4425.)
